Meter asset providers will end estimated billing in the power sector in the near future, the Managing Director, Turbo Energy, Daniel Obemure, has said.

Turbo Energy is one of the meter providers licensed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission to provide meters for power users under the franchise area of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company.

Speaking at an event to commence the deployment of meters to residents in Niger State, Obemure said, “This is a wonderful arrangement for the consumer because unlike before, it helps to put an end to estimated billing.

“We know the nature of electricity supply in this country and before now customers are paying electricity bills based on estimated billing, whether they consume or did not consume the power.“

He added, “But now we are saying no to estimated billing and to that extent, power consumers will definitely benefit. Also, aside from that, we are coming with solutions that make it very easy for consumers to load their meters either online or offline.”

Obemure said the meters being deployed also had the capacity to help consumers manage their power consumption.

“The meters have 99.9 per cent accuracy in terms of billing and credit. Also the system has made it very transparent for people in terms of what they consume. And inbuilt in that system, we are also providing solutions that will enable people manage their energy consumption at their own convenience,” he stated.
